Opening of the new logistics and distribution center marked the 25th anniversary of RALU Logistika operations

ZAGREB, 6 October 2015 – Today, in a commercial zone Dragošička in Rugvica near Zagreb, RALU Logistics has officially opened a new logistics and distribution center, and thus confirmed its position as the leading independent supplier of integrated logistics services in Croatia and the region, marking the 25th anniversary of successful business.

The new center, which consists of the most modern warehouse covering an area of 11,500 m2 and supporting facilities for vehicle maintenance covering an area of 1,500 m2, provides the company with the state-of-the-art infrastructure for the delivery of the highest quality cold chain logistics services in Croatia and abroad. The investment worth more than HRK 150 million, fully financed by private capital, was presented to the business partners and local and state officials by the President of RALU Logistika’s Management Board, Zvonimir Šćurec, and the owner of RALU Logistika, Luka Rajić.

The construction of the company’s logistics and distribution center began in October 2014 and the center has started operating in July this year. It consists of a state-of-the-art temperature-controlled warehouse (-25 - 25°C) covering an area of 11,500 m2 for storing frozen and fresh goods, and ancillary facilities for the maintenance of vehicles covering an area of 1,500 m2. The warehouse has a capacity of over 10,000 pallets and includes 16 loading and unloading dock ramps and cross-docking point exceeding 3,000 m2. Supporting transport infrastructure consists of the internal servicing area and a truck wash station, refuelling station and a parking lot for transport and distribution trucks from the fleet of more than 170 modern refrigerated trucks, of which over 50 percent is not older than one year.

The new RALU Logistika’s center will add 200 new jobs to the existing 350, and provide new additional services, such as promotional packaging of products, packing more products in foil, cardboard and tin containers, weighing of uneven products and putting labels with prices and weight for specific customers, customs and excise warehouse services, and many others. The center uses advanced warehouse management technology, SAP WMS (Warehouse Management System), and a pick-by-voice system, which enables high productivity and meeting the requirements of the largest customers from Croatia and abroad. The modern decoration of the entire complex has been supplemented by installing the most modern refrigeration units of the world's eminent manufacturers. The new center greatly facilitates the business of the company, given the fact that it concentrates all activities and functions that were previously performed in several locations.

The service quality is also guaranteed by the implementation of quality certificates where RALU Logistika is the first company in the field of transport in Croatia, which has aligned its operations and the quality control and food safety system with the international standards, ISO 9001 and HACCP. Moreover, it is the first company in the logistics sector in Croatia that has been granted the coveted IFS Logistics certification, which includes all the components essential for the client, such as the work quality level and detailed control of all processes, particularly those related to food safety. As one of the seven members of the PLAN Europe association (Pharma Logistics Alliance Network Europe), RALU Logistika provides complete logistic support to the pharmaceutical industry in the region of South East Europe in line with the latest GDP Pharma standards.
